Terms of Use
Effective October 13, 2026
These terms apply to the Shikken app (“the app”), published by Iskandar Iskhakov, Republic of Armenia (“we”, “us”). By using the app you agree to them. If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies; if these terms conflict with it, these terms prevail to the extent the law allows.
The app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own study. Do not copy, resell or reverse-engineer the app, or extract its content in bulk.
The app helps you prepare for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT). It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Japan Foundation or Japan Educational Exchanges and Services. There is no official JLPT word list; level assignments are our own. We do not guarantee any exam result.
Purchases
- Subscription. Paid access may be offered as an auto-renewing subscription. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Free trial. If a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription at its end unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Lifetime access. A one-time purchase that unlocks the features included in it for as long as the app is available in the stores, on devices signed in to the same store account. Features included at the time of purchase stay included.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Contact us if something went wrong and we will help.
- Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may differ by country.
Content and attribution
Dictionary data comes from JMdict and KANJIDIC, property of the Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group, used under the EDRDG licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). Example sentences come from the Tatoeba project (CC BY 2.0 FR). Level lists, frequency and other data come from further open sources. Full attribution is in the app under Settings → Sources. Content derived from these sources is available under the same licences; the app’s code and design are not.
Some example sentences were written with AI help, and translations into some languages were made with AI; they may contain errors. Please report them — every card has a report button.
Disclaimer
The app is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.
Changes and termination
We may update the app and these terms. If the terms change materially, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. You may stop using the app at any time.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Armenia, except where the law of your country of residence gives you mandatory protection.
